It’s official! iPad Singapore release date will be scheduled on Friday 23rd July 2010 which will include both the Wifi and 3G models. Although we are behind the international launch on May, but still this is a good news for Singapore who have many fans using the iPhone currently.
It was reported that Apple did not announce any official pricing for the new iPad in the upcoming regions but is planning to release the iPad to “many more countries” throughout 2010. So expect to hear more announcements including local pricing and availability in the coming months. The iPad is already available in the U.S. and Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
In May, Apple said it had sold two million iPads during the first 60 days of the tablet device’s availability in the U.S. and other countries around the world. The company has not announced iPad sales since then, but that is likely to change on Tuesday when Apple announces its third quarter financial results for 2010.
If you want to avoid the long queue like what happened in USA and other countries, then you should buy your iPad from the Singapore Apple online store.
Pricing details are not released yet but after a check from apple stores in one of Singapore shopping malls, you can expect to pay 10-20% more as compared to US versions.
In addition, the ipad Singapore 3G version may never make it to Singapore since the 3 major Telco companies here does not use the micro sim card. But however, it is widely circulated that you can actually do some trimming of the normal sim card to become a micro sim card that can be fitted to the ipad 3G model. Check out the video below:
MAxis malaysia already have micro sim ready even before ipad launch.
I think it is not that diffricult to offer micro sim. it can be done very fast.
I expect ipad 3g will be available in Singapore as soon as wifi model.
Who is the official distributor of ipad in singapore
The distributor in Singapore will not sell the ipad to you directly but they go through a some resellers like DG Lifestyle At Vivo city, iShop, Epicenter, iStudio
Singtel already sell the Micro SIM card with data plan
“In addition, the ipad Singapore 3G version may never make it to Singapore since the 3 major Telco companies here does not use the micro sim card”
the above post does not make sense, as the IPHONE 4 needs a micro-sim card to function too, i trust that all carriers will have micro-sim for both devices on their respective launch days.
Hi Kenneth,
You are right in saying so but this post was written in
May and at that time, the micro SIM card is unheard of
in Singapore.
